The Scottish Government announced on Tuesday, 1st June 2021

From Saturday, 5th June 2021, Highland Region moves into level one. This allows 100 mourners can attend a funeral (This is not including the funeral director, venue staff or celebrant), subject to the venue being able to provide 2 meter distance between households.

Mourners should maintain good hand hygiene, both before and after attending a service.

Face coverings are mandatory (excluding children under 5 years of age and those with health conditions or including hidden disabilities) when attending an indoor service. 

Track and Trace requires attendees to leave their name and contact number to ensure swift notification from NHS in the event of an outbreak. The information will only be used should someone in the congregation develop symptoms of the virus.

The Scottish Government announced

From Monday, 26th April 2021, up to 50 mourners can attend a funeral in Scotland (This is not including the funeral director, venue staff or celebrant), subject to the venue being able to provide 2 meter distance between households.  It is the first major easing of restrictions since last summer enabling families to allow friends to now attend.

Track and Trace requires attendees to leave their name and contact number to ensure swift notification from NHS in the event of an outbreak. The information will only be used should someone in the congregation develop symptoms of the virus.

The Scottish Government announced on Monday, 4th January 2021

From Friday, 8th January 2021 places of worship are required to close for worship, but can reopen for the purpose of holding a funeral service.

Wakes can no longer be held after a service. 

As per previous regulations:

Mourners are still limited to 20 people. 

(This is not including the funeral director, venue staff or celebrant.) 

Mourners must maintain at least a 2 metre distance from each other at all times (except where they are from the same household, or a carer and the person is assisted by the carer).

From Wednesday, 15th July 2020 funeral services are limited to 20 people. 

(This is not including the funeral director, venue staff or celebrant.) 

Numbers of attendees will also be based on the size of the venue and its ability to maintain strict physical distancing measures, the number able to attend may be less than this, all attendees must maintain at least a 2 metre distance from each other at all times (except where they are from the same household, or a carer and the person is assisted by the carer).

Mourners should maintain good hand hygiene, both before and after attending a service, the use of  face coverings are now mandatory (excluding children under 5 years of age and those with health conditions or including hidden disabilities) when attending an indoor service.

March 2020

It is with a heavy heart, we inform you that funerals as we know them must change as of Monday, 23rd March 2020 until further notice. We at Greenlees & Son are following the restrictions implemented by the Government due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. 

Greenlees & Son maintain their commitment to provide the highest level of care to all our families and their loved ones during these uncertain and anxious times. 

We understand this advice may be difficult, but it is vitally important we respect Government guidance for social distancing - to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Current guidelines are:

• Funeral arrangements by telephone, email, or skype (where possible). 

• Restricting viewing to close family members.

• Funerals to be held with immediate family members. 

• Funerals take place directly at the crematorium or cemetery.

• Minister, Priests and Humanists can still preside over funeral services.
